Center for Political Ecology co-founder and, until 2008, managing editor of the journal Capitalism, Nature, Socialism, Barbara Laurence is Director, of CPE’s Local Ecologies initiatives, and co-ordinator for CPE’s community-based internships. A Santa Cruz-based sociologist, her commitment to a socially-just and ecologically-sound world is evident in her long-standing and widespread support for community-based activism. Barbara Laurence has nurtured and supported numerous Monterey Bay Area groups over the years, the most recent of which are noted on CPE’s Local and Global Ecologies page.
